Circleville, OH – December 2024
Cory Adams, the suspect involved in a dramatic pursuit through Circleville in a stolen Jeep, has been found guilty of multiple charges following a months-long legal process. After being indicted on charges of theft, fleeing law enforcement, weapons under disability, and possession of drugs, Adams was convicted in Pickaway County Court earlier this week.
The case stemmed from an October 7, 2024, incident where Adams stole a Jeep Wrangler from a property on Lockbourne Eastern Road, sparking a police chase through Circleville. The pursuit ended when Adams crashed the stolen vehicle into a cornfield and fled on foot, leaving the Jeep engulfed in flames. Story Below
In addition to the theft and evading law enforcement charges, the indictment included charges filed by the Circleville Police Department for weapons under disability and drug possession, stemming from separate incidents in July and October of 2024.
After a trial, the jury convicted Adams on all charges. As a result, he was sentenced to 42 months in prison. Additionally, Adams’ driver’s license has been suspended for 10 years as part of his sentencing.
Adams’ criminal history and the nature of the offenses contributed to the severity of his sentence, which will see him incarcerated for several years. Circleville city leaders and law enforcement have expressed their commitment to holding individuals accountable for endangering public safety through crimes like theft and fleeing from authorities.
The conviction serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat crime in the area and ensure that those who violate the law are held responsible.
