Circleville, OH – December 2024

A high-speed chase across Pickaway County came to an end Wednesday afternoon with the arrest of a suspect wanted on a Franklin County warrant. The pursuit began around 2 p.m. following several 911 calls reporting an erratic driver who had veered off the roadway on US-23.

Deputies from the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of the US-23 Circleville Cloverleaf, where they located a silver Chrysler minivan exiting the highway and heading into downtown Circleville. When a deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver made a sudden U-turn and sped westbound on State Route 22/56, fleeing the city limits.

The chase escalated as the suspect reached speeds exceeding 100 mph along SR-22. Law enforcement coordinated efforts, with the deputy pursuing the vehicle and radioing for backup. The chase continued to the intersection of SR-22 and SR-104, where the suspect drove through the parking lot of a gas station before turning northbound on SR-104.

Officers from South Bloomfield Police Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol deployed spike strips along the suspect’s route, successfully flattening three of the vehicle’s four tires. With the tires damaged, the vehicle slowed to approximately 30 mph. The pursuit ended near Walker Road when the suspect veered off the roadway and was taken into custody without further incident.
