On December 11, Chillicothe police officers were dispatched to a residence on North Pohlman Road for a welfare check that escalated into a dramatic confrontation resulting in multiple charges against a local woman.
Domestic Dispute and Welfare Check
Officers responded after a man reported being attacked by Karissa Hunt, his partner of five years. He alleged that Hunt had thrown a glass bottle at him and choked him, leaving visible injuries on his neck. He provided a written statement and video evidence of the altercation, though the footage captured only audio of him gasping for air.
Upon officers’ arrival, He stated that Hunt had fled upstairs.
Heated Confrontation
Officers made contact with Hunt, who had barricaded herself in the bathroom and refused to cooperate. Hunt insisted she was showering and demanded an attorney. Despite repeated requests to exit the bathroom, Hunt remained defiant, forcing officers to intervene physically.
According to the police report, Hunt resisted arrest aggressively including refusing to exit the shower or get dressed. She spat at officers, claiming she had HIV, and attempted to bite them multiple times. At one point, she began headbutting the floor all while naked. Despite her combative behavior, officers managed to handcuff her and eventually calm her down enough for her to get dressed and cooperate.
Charges Filed
Hunt was transported to the Ross County Jail and charged with domestic violence, obstructing official business, resisting arrest, and felonious assault. She is scheduled to appear in Chillicothe Municipal Court on December 12 at 9 a.m.
This incident remains under investigation.
