A domestic dispute at America’s Best Value Inn in Chillicothe ended with the arrest of 56-year-old Paul B. Moore on December 4. Moore faces charges of felonious assault after police responded to reports of an ongoing assault involving his girlfriend, who was found severely injured.
According to authorities, the victim reported being held against their will for 18 hours by Moore, during which they were allegedly beaten, struck with a mini-fridge, and threatened with weapons, including a knife and a handgun. Officers arrived on scene to find Moore barricaded inside the hotel room, Room 74. He was initially uncooperative, leading to a standoff with law enforcement.
After several attempts to make contact, police successfully entered the room, where Moore was taken into custody without incident after being subdued with a taser. Moore was transported to the Ross County Jail, where he was booked on charges of felonious assault.
The victim, who had visible injuries including a swollen eye and cuts, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. They reported significant physical abuse, but later declined to pursue charges related to sexual assault, despite earlier allegations. Police found drug paraphernalia, syringes, and blood stains in the hotel room, but no firearm was recovered.
Moore, a convicted felon, denied the accusations in an interview, claiming that the victim had become violent during a drug-fueled argument and had destroyed property in the room. He also denied any sexual assault.
Despite the victim’s refusal to cooperate further, investigators continue to gather evidence, and Moore remains in custody as the investigation proceeds.
