Washington, D.C. – Bestway Sandwiches Inc., based in Valencia, California, is recalling approximately 24,870 pounds of frozen chicken and cheese taquito products due to potential contamination with foreign material, specifically metal, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on January 11, 2025.

The affected taquitos were produced on July 3, 2024, and September 25, 2024, and were sold in 20-ounce cartons labeled “CASA MAMITA CHICKEN & CHEESE TAQUITOS.” The packages, which have Best By dates of July 3, 2025, and September 25, 2025, are marked with establishment number “EST. P-40327.” The products were distributed to select ALDI grocery stores nationwide.

The recall follows consumer complaints that a piece of metal was found in the taquitos. One consumer also reported suffering a dental injury as a result of the contamination. Fortunately, there have been no additional reports of illness or injury linked to the product.

FSIS is concerned that some of the recalled taquitos may still be in consumers’ freezers. Consumers who have purchased the affected products are urged not to consume them. Instead, they should dispose of the taquitos or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.

Bestway Sandwiches has initiated a recall notification process to ensure that the affected products are removed from store shelves. FSIS will conduct recall effectiveness checks to verify that the firm has informed its customers and that the product is no longer available for sale.
