Ross County — Litter Control is a small department, but they help keep roadsides and riversides clean and coordinate with the solid waste district for recycling.
Sarah Wood, Administrative Assistant for Ross County Litter Control, was meeting with the county commissioners Monday when I asked her about her department.
She said they partner with the county probation department for people to work off their community service hours by picking up roadside trash. If you have litter that needs to be cleaned up, call them to get scheduled (740 / 772-5326).
Wood say there are 10 recycling sites throughout the county that Litter Control manages, which are funded through the Ross Pickaway Highland Fayette Solid Waste District.
Litter Control also helps with the Ross County tire and household electronic collection, usually in June. And every other year they collect household hazardous waste. Both events are at the Ross County Fairgrounds.
And on the weekend of Earth Day, Wood says they coordinate the Scioto River cleanup on the Saturday morning of the Earth Gathering at the Pump House Center for the Arts, starting at the back of the Yoctangee Park annex at boat ramp.
Ross County Litter Control does not have a website, but they do partner with the RPHF Solid Waste District who has a website and Facebook page.
