CIRCLEVILLE, OHIO (January 23, 2025) – The Pickaway County Community Action Organization (PICCA) is collecting donations to support the homeless in the community during its annual Point-in-Time (PIT) count on Wednesday, January 29. The organization is asking for a variety of items that will be distributed to those in need.

Items Needed for the PIT Count:

  • Tarps
  • Two-person tents
  • Sleeping bags
  • Full-sized blankets
  • Batteries
  • Headlamps
  • Hand and feet warmers
  • Shower wipes
  • Granola bars, beef jerky
  • Water
  • Easy-open canned food
  • Rain ponchos
  • Foot powder

“People who are homeless have only what they can carry or what they’re wearing,” said Fallon Kingery, community services director at PICCA. “If we can provide some items to make their lives a little bit easier, we know it will be appreciated.”

Donations can be dropped off at PICCA, located at 469 E. Ohio Street, Circleville, Ohio, Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

PIT Count Details: PICCA’s annual Point-In-Time count will take place the evening of Tuesday, January 28, and end on the morning of Wednesday, January 29. Donated items received before January 29 will be distributed that night. Items donated after the count will be shared during PICCA’s weekly outreach efforts.

On this one night each year, PICCA staff and volunteers visit local shelters, transitional housing centers, and areas where individuals are living unsheltered. This federally mandated program helps guide agencies in allocating resources for housing and other vital services.

Drop-In Center: To help encourage participation in the count, PICCA will host a drop-in center at its headquarters (469 E. Ohio Street, Circleville) from 7 to 10 p.m. on January 28. Visitors can access food, supplies, and information about available assistance programs.
