CIRCLEVILLE, OH — A Circleville Middle School student was struck by a vehicle outside the school during afternoon dismissal on Monday. According to school officials, the student was crossing the street outside of the designated crosswalk when the incident occurred.

Fortunately, the student did not suffer serious injuries and was transported to the hospital for further observation. No injuries were reported among the vehicle’s passengers.

Circleville City Schools reassured families that elementary school dismissal would proceed as scheduled and used the incident as a reminder of the importance of following designated pick-up and drop-off procedures. “Traffic during dismissal can be busy, and these procedures are in place to help prevent accidents. We want to keep everyone safe,” the district stated.

Superintendent Dr. Kimberly Halley also extended gratitude to Circleville Fire Department, Circleville Police Department, and Pickaway County Sheriff’s School Resource Officer Deputy McIntyre for their swift response and assistance at the scene.

School officials emphasized their ongoing commitment to student safety and urged families to reinforce crosswalk safety with their children.
