JACKSON COUNTY, OH — Residents in southern Jackson County and surrounding areas experienced an apparent earthquake on Monday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The 3.1 magnitude quake was recorded in the region, with reports of shaking extending west toward Portsmouth and as far south as the Huntington area.
This marks the second notable earthquake in the area in recent months, following a 3.3 magnitude tremor that was recorded in mid-December.
While no significant damage or injuries have been reported, the event serves as a reminder that seismic activity can occur in the region. The USGS continues to monitor and assess earthquake activity across the Tri-State area.
