February 13, 2025 – Igloo Products Corp. has issued a recall for more than one million of its 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers after reports of serious injuries caused by the tow handle, which can pinch users’ fingertips, leading to amputation or crushing injuries.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Igloo has received 12 reports of fingertip injuries, including amputations, bone fractures, and lacerations. In response, the company is urging consumers to stop using the recalled coolers immediately and contact Igloo for a free replacement handle.
The recall affects approximately 1,060,000 coolers sold in the U.S., with an additional 47,000 in Canada and 23,000 in Mexico. The affected models were sold at major retailers, including Costco, Target, Academy, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and through online platforms such as Amazon.com and Igloocoolers.com between January 2019 and January 2025. The coolers were priced between $80 and $140.
How to Identify a Recalled Cooler
The recall includes multiple model numbers of the Igloo 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Cooler, manufactured before January 2024. These coolers feature a tow handle and come in various color combinations. The manufacturing date can be found on the bottom of the cooler in a circular pattern, with an arrow pointing to the month and the last two digits of the year of manufacture.
