Pickerington, OH – A fugitive wanted for murder in Ecuador was apprehended in Central Ohio on Thursday, following a brief standoff with U.S. Marshals.

Luis Naula-Candelario, 29, who had been on Ecuador’s most wanted list, was taken into custody in the Pickerington area. Authorities say he is accused of murdering Brenda Garcia Puya in 2019.

Naula-Candelario was taken into custody without incident and is now being held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as he awaits extradition to Ecuador.
