GALLIPOLIS, Ohio – A former employee of a Gallipolis cell phone repair business has pleaded guilty to 40 felony charges after admitting to illegally downloading nude photos from customers’ phones, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced today.
Calvin Jordan, 27, of Gallipolis, entered his guilty plea in court, facing charges that include:
- Three counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor (F2)
- One count of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance (F5)
- 36 counts of unauthorized use of computer, cable, or telecommunications property (F5)
Jordan, who worked at Direct Computing Solutions (DC Solutions) in Gallipolis, was found to have taken possession of customers’ phones and secretly downloaded private photos without their knowledge between December 2021 and April 2022. A joint investigation by the Gallipolis Police Department and Yost’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation determined that more than 40 customers, including minors aged 14 to 17, were victimized.
“Violating your customers’ privacy isn’t just creepy – it’s illegal, especially when some of your clients are minors,” Yost said in a statement. “Today’s guilty plea is the result of a thorough investigation and an airtight indictment.”
Jordan is scheduled for sentencing on March 31 and faces potential prison time. He will also be required to register as a Tier II sex offender. Attorneys from Yost’s Special Prosecutions Section are handling the case.
