CHILLICOTHE, OH – A trespassing complaint led to a dramatic encounter on Allen Avenue, where police detained a suspect who allegedly attempted to force entry into a residence while under the influence.
According to the Chillicothe Police Department, officers were dispatched to 314 Allen Ave. on February 22 in response to a report of trespassing. Upon arrival, Officer Ryan McCoy encountered Brennan Stonerock, who was actively trying to force his way into the home. McCoy noted that Stonerock appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The property owner, Donald Hayburn, told officers he did not know Stonerock and had repeatedly ordered him to leave. Despite these warnings, Stonerock allegedly continued to kick and push the front door in an attempt to gain entry.
After detaining Stonerock in the back of a patrol vehicle, Officer McCoy discovered that the suspect had slipped out of his handcuffs and was attempting to flee. When McCoy attempted to re-secure him, Stonerock became verbally aggressive and resisted arrest before being taken to the ground and handcuffed once again.
Additional officers, Richardson and Sprague, arrived to assist. Officer Sprague treated a minor laceration on Stonerock’s cheek. Meanwhile, Officer Richardson contacted Stonerock’s mother, Roberta Stonerock, to inform her of the incident.
Stonerock was transported to Adena Medical Center for evaluation and was later released to his mother’s custody per orders from Magistrate Szorady. He was ordered to appear in Juvenile Court on Monday at 9:00 a.m.
Authorities have recommended charges against Stonerock, including underage consumption of alcohol (ORC 4301.69E) and resisting arrest (ORC 2921.33A). The case remains under investigation.
