Update: Active Shooter in Fairfield County Leaves Multiple Victims Dead

Lancaster, OH (02/25/2025) – A shooting in Lancaster has left multiple victims, according to early reports. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the area of 1244 North Broad Street.

On February 25, 2025, at approximately 5:29 p.m., officers from the Lancaster Police Department (LPD) responded to a behavioral emergency at 1244 North Broad Street. Upon arrival, an LPD officer encountered an armed male subject. During the encounter, the officer discharged their firearm.

Additional officers arrived on the scene and secured the area. Outside the residence, officers located a female victim suffering from gunshot wounds. She was transported for medical treatment and remains in critical condition. A search of the residence revealed two deceased individuals with apparent gunshot wounds.

The male suspect has been taken into custody and is currently receiving critical medical care. The Lancaster Police Department is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident, including the potential homicides. Additionally, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is on-site to conduct an independent review of the officer-involved shooting.

At this time, the area is considered secure and safe, though a heavy police presence remains. Residents are advised to avoid the 1200 block of North Broad Street while the investigation continues.
