Lancaster Police Officer Retires After More Than 30 Years of Service

LANCASTER, OHIO – The Lancaster Police Department is honoring Officer Erik Spiegel (#69) as he retires after more than 30 years of dedicated service to the city.

Officer Spiegel was hired on December 12, 1994, and has since been a pillar of the department, earning the respect of both his fellow officers and the community. As the most senior officer on the force at the time of his retirement, he was known for his professionalism, mentorship, and willingness to support those around him.

Throughout his career, Officer Spiegel spent more than 25 years on night watch before transitioning to day watch for his final four years. His service and dedication were recognized with the Randy Bartow Award, a prestigious honor reflecting his commitment to excellence in law enforcement.

“Officer Spiegel’s impact on this department and the community is immeasurable,” the department said in a statement. “His leadership and dedication will be greatly missed.”

The Lancaster Police Department and the community extend their deepest gratitude to Officer Spiegel for his decades of service and wish him the best in his well-earned retirement.
