FAIRFIELD COUNTY, OH – Fire crews in Fairfield County are battling multiple fires simultaneously, as a barn fire and several field fires broke out across the area late Tuesday afternoon.
According to early reports, a barn fire erupted around 4:35 p.m. in the 1789 Coonpath Road area, drawing more than a dozen fire department units to the scene in Greenfield Township. At the same time, crews responded to a large field fire in the 9400 block of Palmer Road, while mutual aid was requested for additional field fires on St. Paul and Wheeler Road, as well as the 700 block of Natchez Lane.
The fires in Fairfield County come as Ross and Pickaway Counties also report multiple field fires. The incidents highlight the increased fire risk in Ohio during spring’s dry and windy conditions.
Burn Ban in Effect
Ohio’s burn ban is currently in effect from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through May, prohibiting open burning in unincorporated areas during these hours. Authorities are urging residents to follow the restrictions to help prevent additional wildfires.
Emergency crews continue to work to contain the blazes, and officials are asking residents to avoid affected areas while firefighters battle the flames.
