Wilmington, OH – March 14, 2025 – The National Weather Service has issued an updated special weather statement warning of extreme fire danger across several counties in Ohio today. A combination of dry conditions, gusty winds, low humidity, and unseasonably warm temperatures have created an elevated risk for wildfires.

The affected areas include Dearborn, Ohio, Switzerland, Carroll, Gallatin, Boone, Kenton, Campbell, Owen, Grant, Pendleton, Bracken, Robertson, Mason, Lewis, Franklin, Licking, Pickaway, Fairfield, Butler, Warren, Ross, Hocking, Hamilton, Clermont, Brown, Highland, Adams, Pike, and Scioto counties.

According to the National Weather Service, winds gusting to 20-25 mph, relative humidity levels as low as 25%, and no recent rainfall are contributing to the increased fire risk. The dry conditions have left grasses and leaf litter highly susceptible to ignition, and any spark could result in a rapidly spreading fire.

Officials are urging residents to be vigilant and avoid any outdoor burning today. If you observe an unattended fire, it is crucial to call 911 immediately. Authorities warn that fires can quickly escalate in these conditions.

Stay safe and do not burn anything outdoors during this extreme fire risk period.
