
Lancaster, OH – March 15, 2025 – A tense situation unfolded in Lancaster on Saturday afternoon when police responded to a 911 hang-up call at a residence on West Sixth Avenue, leading to a domestic violence standoff.
The Lancaster Police Department arrived at 814 W. Sixth Avenue around 3:29 p.m. and determined that a suspect had barricaded himself inside the home. The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Jeffrey Johnson, was believed to be armed with a firearm, prompting authorities to escalate their response.
The Special Response Team (SRT) and Hostage Negotiation Team (HNT) were deployed to the scene, working swiftly to resolve the situation without further incident.
Following the standoff, Johnson was taken into custody and transported to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office Jail on a probation holder. His case will now be reviewed by the Fairfield County Prosecutor’s Office for potential criminal charges.
Authorities have confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the community. The Lancaster Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
