
CHILLICOTHE—Local law enforcement had a busy day on March 27, responding to a variety of incidents across the city, ranging from traffic violations to warrant arrests and criminal activity.
Traffic Stops and Violations
Officers conducted multiple traffic stops throughout the day. Citations were issued for speeding on North Bridge Street at 12:15 a.m. and for texting while driving at multiple locations, including East Water Street, West Water Street, North Paint Street, and Chestnut Street. A driver on South McArthur Street was cited for failure to control after striking a parked vehicle while operating a Goodwill bus.
Criminal Activity and Arrests
Authorities responded to an assault case at 110 Maple Avenue around 12:20 a.m., while a criminal trespassing report was filed at the Pilot gas station on East Main Street shortly after 1 a.m. Later in the morning, officers investigated a case of criminal mischief on South Mulberry Street involving a broken window.
Several arrests were made throughout the day, including a warrant arrest at the back parking lot of the Chillicothe Police Department at 6:15 a.m. Another warrant arrest occurred at a residence on South Brownell Street during a follow-up on a missing juvenile case. A third individual, Brandon Rooker, was taken into custody for violating a protection order after being recognized by an officer at a location on East Second Street.
Theft and Property Crimes
Officers responded to multiple theft-related incidents, including a suspected scam reported at LCNB Western Avenue and another theft complaint at a residence on East Fourth Street. A stolen property check on North Paint Street remains under investigation.
Unusual Incidents
In an unusual call, police were dispatched to North Sugar Street regarding a sick raccoon. The officer safely captured and humanely dispatched the suffering animal.
Public Disturbances and Disorderly Conduct
A disorderly conduct case involving an intoxicated individual was reported at Five Below on North Bridge Street in the evening. Additionally, police assisted with an unruly juvenile case on South Paint Street.
Ongoing Investigations
The Chillicothe Police Department continues to investigate several open cases, including a hit-and-run on Elm Street, a vandalism complaint on North High Street, and a trespassing incident at the Pilot gas station.
