ROSS COUNTY, OH – A resurfacing project on U.S. Route 23 is officially underway in Ross County, bringing notable changes to traffic patterns and detours for commuters in the area. The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has announced the phased updates, which began on April 15, and will affect traffic flow during both daytime and overnight hours.

Traffic Pattern 1 (Overnight: 5:00 PM – 5:30 AM)
- Northbound U.S. 23 traffic will use crossover lanes to continue on U.S. 23 NB or exit onto U.S. 35 WB.
- Drivers can still access U.S. 23 NB from East Main Street.
- However, access to U.S. 35 WB from East Main Street will be restricted. Those heading to U.S. 35 WB must follow a detour via East Main Street to North Bridge Street to rejoin U.S. 35 WB.
Traffic Pattern 2 (Daytime: 5:30 AM – 7:00 PM, Starting April 16)
- U.S. 23 NB traffic wanting to reach U.S. 35 WB must use the far-left lane and crossover lanes.
- Drivers staying on U.S. 23 NB should stay in the far-right lane.
Evening Pattern Returns (7:00 PM – 5:30 AM)
- Overnight traffic will revert to Traffic Pattern 1, utilizing the crossover lanes.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, expect delays, and follow posted signage and detour routes. The resurfacing is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing safety and road quality for thousands of daily drivers in the region.
