COMMERCIAL POINT, Ohio (April 17, 2025) — A 13-year-old juvenile is in custody following a high-speed chase through Pickaway County after officers identified a stolen vehicle linked to a recent rash of Kia and Hyundai thefts.

According to the Village of Commercial Point Police Department, Officer Andrew Bynorth was patrolling Main Street around 1:15 a.m. when he spotted a black Kia that had been previously reported stolen—part of an ongoing investigation into multiple vehicle thefts. When Bynorth attempted a traffic stop, the suspect fled north on Borror Road, prompting a pursuit.

The chase ended when the driver lost control of the vehicle. Officers Bynorth, Hiroki Barker, and Lucas Forte quickly took the juvenile suspect into custody without incident. The stolen Kia, confirmed to have been taken from within the Village of Commercial Point, was recovered at the scene. The juvenile was taken to the local hospital then cleared with no injuries.

The suspect is currently being held at a juvenile detention facility and faces felony charges of motor vehicle theft and fleeing/eluding a peace officer.

Chief Jordan praised the swift action of his officers and extended gratitude to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, and Ross County Sheriff’s Office for their coordinated support in this incident and in two other pursuits earlier in the week, both of which also originated in Commercial Point and ended in arrests.

The case remains under investigation, and the juvenile’s name has not been released due to their age. The suspect awaits a court appearance in juvenile court.
