Chillicothe Police Respond to Multiple Incidents on April 17, Including Sexual Battery, Drug Overdose, and Concealed Weapon Call

CHILLICOTHE, OH – April 17, 2025
The Chillicothe Police Department responded to a wide range of incidents throughout the city on Wednesday, including reports of sexual battery, theft, drug overdoses, and weapons violations. The day’s activity highlights ongoing concerns in the community surrounding public safety, mental health, and criminal behavior.


Sexual Battery Under Investigation

Police were dispatched early Thursday morning to Red Dot Storage on Western Avenue in response to a report of sexual battery involving a victim who was unaware of the incident. The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional details have been released at this time.


Traffic & Warrant Stops

  • Officers conducted a traffic stop near Yoctangee Parkway and Arch Street shortly after 7:30 a.m.
  • Two warrant-related calls were logged on North Paint Street and North Watt Street, with officers investigating wanted individuals.
  • Crystal Beals was arrested during a patrol stop at Water and Prospect Streets for an active warrant related to forgery. She was transported to Ross County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on April 18.

Reports of Theft, Shoplifting, and Vehicle Break-Ins

Several theft-related investigations were initiated throughout the day:

  • A shoplifting complaint at Walmart on River Trace Lane
  • A theft from a motor vehicle on Clay Street
  • A theft report from Orange Street All cases remain under investigation as police work to identify suspects and recover stolen items.

Drug Overdose and Mental Health Crisis

At 148 Columbia Avenue, officers responded to a report of a possible drug overdose. The incident remains under investigation.
Later in the evening, police were dispatched to South Renick Avenue where a resident was reportedly experiencing suicidal thoughts and had allegedly threatened self-harm involving a firearm. Mental health services were engaged, and the situation is being monitored.


Criminal Threats and Harassment

  • A menacing by stalking report was filed at South Paint Street, involving alleged threatening electronic messages.
  • Officers responded to a telecommunications harassment and protection order violation at 600 West 5th Street, Apt 9.

Criminal Mischief and Trespassing

A vandalism complaint was logged at 146 East 5th Street under a criminal mischief charge.
Officers were also dispatched to First Capital Realty on Riverside Street for a report of a suspicious individual trespassing late Thursday night.


Aggravated Menacing and Weapons Complaint

Police responded to Penn Station on Enderlin Circle for an aggravated menacing complaint involving alleged threats.
Later, a call came from Raising Cane’s on North Bridge Street, where a masked male was reportedly displaying a concealed firearm. The suspect’s identity and the circumstances remain under investigation.


Additional Reports

Other reports filed include:

  • A stop sign violation on Western Avenue
  • An accident report on East Main Street
  • An ex-parte child services request on East Water Street
  • Non-criminal incidents across locations including South Renick, East 7th Street, and East Water Street
