PICKAWAY COUNTY, OH – A late-night crash involving a local towing company caused significant damage and briefly shut down a major intersection on the Pickaway-Fairfield County line.

The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of State Route 674 and State Route 22, when a Fletcher’s Towing truck out of Circleville reportedly failed to stop at a red light while hauling a vehicle.

According to witnesses at the scene, the wrecker experienced apparent braking issues and entered the intersection without stopping. A black Chevrolet pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed struck the car hauler, causing both vehicles to lose control.

The Chevy pickup veered off the roadway and slammed into the island of the Buckeye Station gas station, damaging property in the process. Meanwhile, the impact sent the car hauler rolling backward, where it collided with a parked trailer, a vehicle, and part of the Buckeye Station building, including an air vacuum system. The vehicle being hauled was also damaged in the crash.

The driver of the Chevrolet truck was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries. The driver of the Fletcher’s wrecker was not injured and remained at the scene to speak with authorities. No other injuries were reported.

The roadway was closed for approximately one hour as crews worked to clear debris and assess the damage.

Local law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
