CHILLICOTHE, OH — Adena Regional Medical Center is gearing up for the Adena Health Foundation’s Breast Cancer Awareness 5K Walk/Run, scheduled for Saturday, October 5, 2024. This event aims to bolster the fight against breast cancer while raising funds for local cancer care through the Adena Health Foundation’s cancer fund.
The 5K event will commence at 9 a.m. from the PACCAR Medical Education Center, located at 446 Hospital Road on the Adena Regional Medical Center campus. Participants will traverse the scenic campus grounds, enjoying the picturesque hills that define the Chillicothe area. Registration begins at 8 a.m.
Adult participants can join for a fee of $35, while children can register for $20. The registration fee includes an event t-shirt. Attendees can also purchase yard signs to honor loved ones who have battled or are currently fighting breast cancer. Various sponsorship opportunities are available for those interested in supporting the event at different levels.
Breast cancer remains a significant health concern, with approximately one in eight women expected to develop the disease in their lifetime. Early detection through regular mammograms and breast self-exams is crucial for effective treatment. The 5K Walk/Run is set to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month, highlighting the importance of awareness, prevention, and early intervention.
