Amanda Woman to Face Charges of Assault, Robbery, and Obstruction Following Competency Evaluation

CIRCLEVILLE, OHIO — Lindsey Pyle is set to face multiple charges, including assault, robbery, and obstruction, after being found competent to stand trial. The charges stem from an incident on July 12, 2023, at the Goodwill store located at 24799 US 23 in Circleville, Ohio.

According to the official police report, authorities were alerted to a theft and assault involving a female suspect who fled the scene with a grocery cart heading northbound. An officer of the Circleville Police Department responded to the call and encountered Lindsey Pyle walking away from the Goodwill with a cart.

“I exited my patrol vehicle and attempted to handcuff Lindsey Pyle,” Officer stated in his report. “She resisted arrest, fled from me, and after falling to the ground, continued to resist and disobey lawful orders.” Eventually, Pyle was subdued and taken into custody.

Further investigation revealed that Pyle had entered the Goodwill store with a Tractor Supply cart and proceeded to fill it with items. Eyewitness accounts from employees, detailed Pyle’s aggressive behavior. One employee reported that Pyle threw clothes at her, struck her in the mouth, and made threats before ramming the cart through the store’s doors. Another witness recounted being swatted and scratched by Pyle during the altercation.

A witness at the scene, corroborated the employees’ accounts, stating he saw Pyle attempting to take stolen merchandise and making threats of violence.

As a result of the incident, Lindsey Pyle faces charges of robbery, resisting arrest, obstructing official business, and two counts of assault. The stolen items recovered totaled $183.43. Pyle was transported to the Pickaway County Jail following her arrest.

The case took a turn when, on September 15, 2023, the prosecutor filed paperwork requesting a competency evaluation for Pyle to determine her ability to stand trial. Subsequently, Pyle has been found competent, paving the way for legal proceedings to move forward.

The Pickaway County Court of Common Pleas is expected to schedule Pyle’s trial in the coming weeks, where the details of the case will be presented before a judge and jury.
