CIRCLEVILLE – One of Pickaway Counties’ gems is opening up its doors and having a book author who wrote “Mt. Olive” a fictional book that was written around the historical location and home of Mt Oval.
Author Beth Livingston will speak about using historical Mt. Oval House and Farm for the story in “Mt. Olive.” She will speak and participants will tour the house where docents will share how each room was used in the book.
“Mount Olive” Livingston Book is about a fictional Englishman character by the name of Nate Chivers that is offered a great opportunity in 1896 to work on the Saxby’s farm near Circleville, Ohio. But tragedy strikes shortly after he arrives, with long-term consequences not only for himself but also for the ten Saxby children.
Best friends Josie Saxby and Carolyn Pritchard both have their eyes on Nate. Who will win him? It all depends on Nate. Or does it?
This is a stand-alone second book in the Tour of Homes series, imaginary stories taking place in real houses open to the public.
Area maps will be available to visit other areas utilized in the book, including Circleville sites in the 1890s. The cost is a $1.00 donation. Mt. Oval is owned and operated by the Pickaway County Historical and Genealogical Society.
The Pickaway County Historical Society, Mt. Oval Committee is dedicated to the maintenance and enhancement of the grounds and buildings at Mt. Oval. Their efforts to bring community awareness to this gift from the Mary Ruth Tolbert Estate have enhanced our community in countless ways.
