Madison County, OH — In a remarkable effort to protect local wildlife, State Wildlife Officer Matt Teders recently addressed a series of challenges involving barn owlets that had fallen from their nest.

The situation began when Officer Teders received a report about several barn owlets that had fallen from a nest situated on the side of a commercial building. Collaborating with the Ohio Wildlife Center, Officer Teders worked to rehabilitate the owlets, who were then successfully relocated to a foster nest to ensure their safety and well-being.

However, the following week, Officer Teders was alerted to another barn owlet that had fallen from the same nest. The Ohio Wildlife Center staff assessed the situation and determined that this owlet could be returned to the original nest.

To prevent future incidents, Officer Teders, along with the London Fire Department and the building’s maintenance staff, took proactive measures by installing a ledge below the nest. This ledge was designed to prevent additional owlets from falling.

A trail camera was also mounted by Officer Teders on the ledge to monitor the nest’s activity and ensure the safety of the owlets. With the coordinated efforts of the Ohio Wildlife Center volunteers, the owlet was carefully returned to its nest.

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of local authorities and wildlife experts, the barn owlets are now under vigilant observation and have a safer environment to thrive.
