Pike County, Ohio — On Monday, September 16th, at approximately 8:19 p.m., Pike County Sheriff Tracy D. Evans reported a complaint of shots fired near the intersection of Fairview Rd and Lapperell Rd. The incident is believed to have arisen from a road rage altercation between drivers.
According to reports, the suspect vehicle involved was identified as a 2010 Red Chevy HHR. Deputies from the Pike County Sheriff’s Office immediately began patrolling the area but did not make contact with the shooter. However, they later located the vehicle on Grassy Fork Rd. A pursuit ensued, which ended near the 1000 block of Zion Rd. The driver then fled on foot into a wooded area towards Hackelshin Rd.
The driver has been identified as 43-year-old Josh Bailey of Williamsport, OH. His passenger, 41-year-old Misty Rinehart of Bainbridge, OH, was apprehended at the scene. Bailey was last seen wearing a black shirt and camouflage pants.
The search for Bailey involved assistance from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Piketon and Waverly Police, as well as the Ohio State Highway Patrol Aviation Unit. Authorities believe Bailey to be armed and dangerous and are urging anyone with information to contact the Pike County Sheriff’s Office.
Warrants will be issued for Bailey’s arrest on charges including aggravated menacing, mishandling a firearm in a motor vehicle, and fleeing and eluding.
