BREAKING NEWS: Arrests Made in Alexa Stakely Homicide Case

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Police Department has made significant progress in the homicide investigation of Alexa Stakely, 29, who tragically lost her life in a hit-and-run incident on July 11, 2024. Today, authorities announced the arrest of two juveniles in connection with the case.

Earlier today, one of the juveniles voluntarily accompanied by his parents to Columbus Police Headquarters for questioning admitted to his involvement in the theft of Stakely’s vehicle and the fatal collision that led to her death. He has since been charged with murder.

Following this initial arrest, detectives continued their investigation and successfully identified and interviewed a second juvenile suspect. During questioning, the second juvenile confessed to being present during the theft of Stakely’s Honda and has also been charged with murder.

“While we have made two arrests in this tragic case, our investigation is ongoing,” stated a spokesperson for the Columbus Police Department. “We are actively working to identify and locate a third suspect believed to be involved in this incident. We urge this individual to come forward and take responsibility for their actions.”

The incident occurred on July 11, 2024, at approximately 1:27 AM, when Columbus Police responded to a call in the 6300 block of Blue Knoll Dr. reporting a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Alexa Stakely was found lying in the roadway with severe injuries and was pronounced deceased later that morning at 8:43 AM.
