BREAKING NEWS: Logan OH- Suspect Wanted For Armed Robbery Captured After Another Robbery

Logan OH- On Sunday April 19th, at approximately 11:35 PM, Hocking County 911 received a call regarding a Robbery that had just taken place at Speedway, located on West Hunter Street. A second call came in a few moments later reporting an unknown subject stole his vehicle from Speedway and was last seen traveling eastbound on Hunter Street.

Responding units arrived at Speedway and began interviewing both victims. A short time later, the stolen vehicle was discovered in an alley of the 300 block of West Main Street, The vehicle was processed for evidence and several nearby residences were checked, but the suspect was not able to be located.

A short time later, video from Speedway was obtained and through the investigative process, the suspect was identified as Nicolas Wittekind, The Logan Police Department and Hocking County Sheriff’s Office checked several locations in the City and County where the suspect was known to reside,but he was not located.

Charges were filed and an Adult Parole Authority holder was issued for his arrest for violation of his parole.

On Monday, April 20th, at approximately 10:56 AM a manager at Walmart of Logan, called the Logan Police Department and advised an unknown male subject had just robbed one of the cashiers and had left on foot from the store heading through the parking lot.

Responding units arrived quickly and observed a male subject matching the description walking up the hill behind Walmart. Officers pursued the subject on foot and after failing to comply with demands of the officers, several taser cartridges were deployed with little effect. The Officers were able to subdue the suspect after a brief struggle and placed him under arrest. He was identified as Nicolas Wittekind.

A large amount of cash was found in his clothing. He was taken to the HVCH ER for treatment of injuries sustained while resisting arrest. Once he is medically cleared he will be transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail on numerous Felony charges.
