CHILLICOTHE, OH – A home invasion in Ross County on February 20 resulted in the arrest of at least one individual after four suspects forced their way into a residence in an attempt to assault a victim.

According to the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, deputies Jacob Johansen and Weaver responded to a reported burglary on Moss Hollow Road. The homeowners stated that a group of four—three females and one male—knocked on their door, asking to speak with their granddaughter. When the homeowner left the door open momentarily to call for her granddaughter, the group forcibly entered the home and attempted to reach the victim’s room.

During the incident, one suspect reportedly went to the rear of the home and shattered a bedroom window. The homeowners confirmed they did not grant permission for any of the individuals to enter.

Suspects Identified Through Social Media

Through interviews and social media investigation, authorities identified at least two of the individuals involved, including the victim’s ex-boyfriend. Investigators reviewed videos posted on Facebook, which captured portions of the incident, showing one of the suspects attempting to force their way into the victim’s room while the victim yelled for them to leave.

Additional footage revealed a suspect admitting to breaking the window and explicitly stating that the intent was to assault the victim.

Following the investigation, deputies were alerted that one of the suspects had arrived at the Overbrook Apartments, where they had been previously trespassed. Authorities responded, and upon questioning, the individual admitted to being at the Moss Hollow Road residence but claimed they had been invited inside. However, video evidence contradicted this claim, showing that no permission was given and that the entry was made under false pretenses.

Arrests and Pending Charges

One suspect was arrested and charged with complicity to aggravated burglary, burglary, and criminal trespass. Investigators are pursuing additional warrants for others involved on charges of aggravated burglary, burglary, and intimidation of a victim.

Authorities also received a post-arrest report stating that one of the suspects had allegedly posted nude photographs of the victim online, prompting further investigation.

The Ross County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its efforts to bring all individuals involved to justice. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the department.
