Canal Winchester, OH – An Ohio Lottery player from Canal Winchester is celebrating a major win after claiming the $1 million top prize on the VIP Millions scratch-off ticket.
The winner purchased his ticket at In N Out Smoke Shop and Carryout, located at 5020 Gender Rd in Canal Winchester. Upon revealing his prize, he was in total disbelief.
“I was like, ‘oh, my goodness’,” the winner said, still amazed by the result. His initial reaction wasn’t to shout, as there were other customers in the store. Instead, he stepped outside to his car to double-check the ticket. “I scanned it again to see if that was the case and it ended up being a good amount and I went ‘wow’,” he explained.
The winner opted for the cash option of $500,000. After federal and state tax withholdings, he will take home about $360,000.
The VIP Millions scratch-off is a $50 ticket with a top prize of $40,000 a year for 25 years. As of March 21, 2025, there are 42 top prizes still available in the game.
Although the winner isn’t sure exactly what he’ll do with his newfound wealth, starting a business and making wise investments are both on his mind.
Since its inception in 1974, the Ohio Lottery has contributed over $33 billion to education in the state.
