Logan, Ohio – December 17, 2024 – Carborundum Grinding Wheel Company has announced a major investment of over $440,000 to upgrade its manufacturing facility in Logan, Ohio. The project comes in partnership with JobsOhio, Ohio Southeast Economic Development (OhioSE), and the Hocking County Community Improvement Corporation (CIC).
Carborundum Grinding Wheel Company, a leading manufacturer of specialty organic bonded abrasive grinding wheels, has been a key player in the Logan manufacturing community since opening its facility in 1956. The family-owned company has maintained its presence in Logan for decades, celebrating its 40th year of continuous business in 2024.
“We’re grateful to JobsOhio for supporting this crucial roof renovation project,” said Alexandra Marchetti, President of Carborundum Grinding Wheel Company. “This investment ensures our operations remain efficient, allows us to modernize our facility, and strengthens the legacy my father built in 1984. Logan is our home, and we’re excited about the opportunity to expand, create new jobs, and invest in this community.”
The company’s facility was designed specifically to support the production of abrasives but has faced operational challenges due to structural issues with its fourth-floor roof. The $440,000 investment will address these concerns, replacing the roof and enabling the company to maximize production capabilities. This move is expected to create three new jobs in the community.
Joy Evangelista, Executive Director of the Hocking County CIC, added, “The CIC Board and staff are excited to see this positive investment taking place at Carborundum. They are a long-standing part of the industrial community in Logan, and we look forward to their continued growth.”
Of the $440,000 investment, $50,000 comes from the JobsOhio Small Business Grant program. This initiative supports small businesses across Ohio by addressing challenges related to location, ownership demographics, or other factors. Eligible small businesses like Carborundum can qualify for support through grants aimed at expansion and operational improvements.
“JobsOhio and OhioSE are thrilled to support Carborundum’s commitment to innovation and quality manufacturing,” said Katy Farber, Interim President of OhioSE. “We’re proud to see this important company invest in its Logan facility and its skilled workforce as they enter a new chapter of growth.”
The investment highlights Carborundum’s commitment to both modernizing its operations and fostering job opportunities in the Logan community.
