LOGAN, Ohio – Immerse yourself in the holiday spirit amidst the natural wonder of Ash Cave as Hocking Hills State Park hosts Christmas at Ash Cave on Saturday, December 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. This annual festive event, presented by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), offers a magical blend of seasonal cheer and breathtaking outdoor beauty.

“This event is a perfect blend of holiday cheer and the incredible natural beauty of Ash Cave,” said ODNR Director Mary Mertz. “It’s a magical way for families and friends to create lasting memories together while exploring one of Ohio’s most cherished outdoor spaces.”

A Candlelit Stroll Through Nature’s Masterpiece
Begin your evening at the Ash Cave parking lot, where a candlelit quarter-mile trail will lead you to Ohio’s largest recessed cave. The stunning horseshoe-shaped cavern, featuring a 100-foot-high rim and a 700-foot-wide span, serves as a majestic backdrop for the festivities.

Holiday Activities for All Ages
Guests can enjoy hot cocoa and cookies while engaging in hands-on holiday crafts such as popsicle stick decorations, pinecone bird feeders, and hand-dipped candles. Santa Claus will also make a special appearance, bringing joy to visitors of all ages.

History and Charm in Every Corner
Ash Cave, with its rich history and extraordinary acoustics, has been a beloved gathering place for generations. Once used by early settlers for Sunday services, the cave continues to awe visitors with its towering cliffs and, in winter, dazzling ice formations.
