On September 4, 2024, a search warrant was executed at 280 Mechanic Street in Chillicothe, Ohio, as part of a drug trafficking investigation. Benny Lee Simpson, the subject of the warrant, was observed leaving the residence in a black Chevy Malibu and was subsequently stopped and detained.

Upon searching the residence, investigators found over 162 grams of suspected narcotics in multiple bags, a digital scale with white residue, and various packaging materials indicative of drug trafficking. Additionally, a jar containing approximately 25 multi-colored tablets stamped with the Mario cartoon character was discovered in the living room, believed to be ecstasy or MDMA.

Two firearms, a 25-caliber Ravens Arms and a 45-caliber Glock 21, were also found in the living room, along with paperwork and an expired Ohio driver’s license bearing Simpson’s name. Simpson, who has prior convictions for aggravated robbery, robbery, trafficking in drugs, and possession of drugs, is disqualified from owning or possessing firearms.

Simpson was arrested on two counts of weapons under disability and is facing additional charges for trafficking and possession of drugs pending laboratory testing of the suspected narcotics. The investigation is ongoing.
