Chillicothe, OH – A 34-year-old Chillicothe man, identified as Matthew Koon, is under investigation for aggravated menacing following a disturbing encounter at a local residence on Vincent Street on December 30, 2024.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. when, the complainant, reported a disorderly situation involving Koon. According to her, she had let her dog outside when Koon, who appeared intoxicated, approached and began petting her dog. Koon then allegedly took the dog’s collar, opened the gate, and entered the yard, where he began attacking the animal.
She called her boyfriend, to come outside. When he arrived, he witnessed Koon allegedly twisting the dog’s collar. She asked Koon to leave, but the situation escalated when Koon began yelling at the boyfriend. According to the victium, Koon made threats and raised his fist towards him, stating, “I got people over there and over here.” Koon then reportedly lifted his shirt, revealing a firearm under his clothing, and said, “I have a MMP 45 Bodyguard and I’m not afraid to use it.”
Koon also claimed to be a Vietnam War veteran during the confrontation. The residents who live on Vincent Street, stated they were familiar with Koon but had never encountered him acting aggressively before. She expressed concern for her safety after Koon had entered her yard and porch uninvited, and she requested that he be barred from the property.
Witnesses at the scene, corroborated the incident. Following the event, they confirmed they knew Koon’s residence and provided officers with his booking photograph from a prior arrest.
Officers attempted to contact Koon at his home on the 136 block of Vincent Street but were unsuccessful. A nearby neighbor confirmed Koon’s address. Authorities are now pursuing a warrant for Koon’s arrest on charges of aggravated menacing.
The investigation is ongoing.
