Chillicothe, OH — A dramatic police chase in Chillicothe on August 2, 2024, led to the arrest of Martin Goble, who was sought for multiple felony warrants and suspected of drug possession.
Officers first learned of Goble’s whereabouts after radio communications indicated he was spotted entering an abandoned house at 330 Clay Street. Goble, described as a white male in an orange shirt, was known to have an outstanding felony warrant through another agency.
Upon arrival, officers observed Goble fleeing from the back of the house. Sgt. Cox, who was already on the scene, pointed out Goble’s direction as he ran westbound through yards and jumped fences. As the situation unfolded, Sgt. Cox instructed other officers to intercept Goble’s escape route.
Sgt. Cox and Officer Elrich pursued Goble, who continued to evade capture by changing direction toward the Tiffin Elementary School lot. Despite repeated commands to stop, Goble did not comply. Officer Elrich attempted to deploy a taser but missed. As Goble ran north of Clay Street, Sgt. Cox successfully intercepted him and, with the assistance of Officer Elrich, managed to bring him to the ground.
Goble initially resisted arrest, refusing to place his hands behind his back. After several commands and a drive stun administered by Officer Elrich, Goble finally complied and was handcuffed.
Following his arrest, Goble was transported to the Ross County Jail (RCJ). During the admission process, a pat-down revealed a small amount of suspected methamphetamine hidden in a canister attached to his keys. Goble was advised of his Miranda Rights but declined to make any statements regarding the drugs. The methamphetamine was secured as evidence and will be sent to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) for testing. Additional felony charges may be filed based on the test results.
Goble, who also complained of back pain and a busted lip from the struggle, was booked on the felony warrant for drug possession, resisting arrest, obstructing official business, and criminal trespass. He is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 5, 2024, at 9:00 AM.
