Chillicothe, OH – A local man was arrested on January 23, 2025, after fleeing from police officers and being found in possession of methamphetamine. Chris Evers, 34, of Akron Street, was apprehended following a brief pursuit after police confirmed an active warrant for his arrest.

While on routine patrol, a Officer recognized Evers walking eastbound on Akron Street and was aware that Evers had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. After confirming the warrant with Chillicothe Dispatch, he attempted to stop Evers, who immediately fled on foot, running toward his residence on Akron Street.

As Evers entered his home and locked the rear door, the officer, in hot pursuit, announced his intention to force entry. Evers’s mother, who owns the home, opened the rear door and led officers to his bedroom, where they found Evers attempting to hide under his bed. Upon approaching him, officers noticed smoke coming from Evers’s mouth and the air, prompting further investigation.

Evers admitted to officers that he had been smoking methamphetamine because he knew he was going to jail and needed to “serve days.” After being taken into custody, a search of Evers revealed burnt foil, which he acknowledged using to ingest meth. A small amount of meth was also discovered in his pocket.

Evers was charged with obstructing official business, possession of drug paraphernalia, and his original charge related to the warrant for drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Ross County Jail, where he was provided a court date for January 24, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in the Chillicothe Municipal Court.

The small amount of crystal substance found on Evers was secured for evidence and will be destroyed as part of the ongoing investigation. All related items were photographed, bagged, and placed into the CPD evidence room for further processing.
