CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – A routine traffic stop on Washington Ave late Friday evening resulted in citations for multiple violations after officers observed a driver allegedly failing to signal properly and discovered an expired license.

The incident occurred on July 23rd, 2024, around 9:55 PM when law enforcement spotted a red Jeep at the intersection of 7th St and Watt St. According to police reports, the vehicle proceeded to turn left onto Watt St without activating its turn signal.

Officer promptly initiated a stop and approached the driver, identified as George Gardiner II, to address the signaling infraction. Gardiner explained that he had used his arm to signal, a claim not supported by dash camera footage reviewed by the officer.

Upon further investigation using LEADS (Law Enforcement Automated Data System), it was discovered that Gardiner’s driver’s license had expired in 2017.

As a result of the stop, Gardiner was issued citations for failing to signal and for driving with an expired license. He was informed of the violations and provided with citations that require his appearance in court.

The Chillicothe Police Department continues to enforce traffic regulations to ensure public safety on city roads.
