Chillicothe Man Threatened to Fight Officers Over Budweiser Beer at Local Gas Station

Chillicothe, OH — A Chillicothe man was arrested Wednesday evening after multiple reports of disorderly behavior and threats at a Valero gas station on North Bridge Street.

According to the police report, Officer Ryan McCoy was flagged down by several individuals who claimed a man dressed in all black was attempting to fight multiple people at the gas station. Upon arriving at the scene, the officer observed the suspect, later identified as Jacob Salyers, walking through the parking lot. Salyers was positively identified by the individuals who had flagged down the officer.

When approached, Salyers became irate, using vulgar language and making threatening remarks. He also became physically confrontational, attempting to remove his shirt and pointing to a dropped can of Budweiser. As Salyers continued to act aggressively, stating “I’ll fight for it”stating “I’ll fight for it.” additional officers arrived, and he eventually dropped to his knees and complied with arrest.

The manager of the Valero gas station reported that Salyers had repeatedly threatened to fight her, calling her derogatory names and refusing to leave after being asked several times. She added that Salyers swung at a female customer who tried to intervene and then proceeded to throw gas station signs around the parking lot. She expressed concern for her safety, believing Salyers was likely to escalate the situation.

Salyers was transported to the Ross County Jail, where he continued to show disruptive behavior, punching the divider between the front and rear seats during the ride. Upon arrival, jail staff assisted in removing Salyers from the vehicle, where he became verbally aggressive with staff members.

Salyers was booked on charges of disorderly conduct by intoxication, criminal trespass, and menacing. He was issued a summons for his disorderly conduct and provided with a court date of March 3rd in Chillicothe Municipal Court at 9:00 a.m.
