CHILLICOTHE, OH – After more than a decade in city leadership, Chillicothe Mayor Luke Feeney has officially announced his candidacy for Judge of the Chillicothe Municipal Court.

In a statement released Monday, Feeney called serving as mayor “one of the greatest honors” of his life and reflected on his 12 years in city government, first as City Auditor and then as Mayor for the last nine years.

“We’ve faced challenges head-on, celebrated big wins, and made real progress together,” Feeney said. “I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve built as a community.”

With the municipal court seat opening for the first time in nearly three decades, Feeney said he carefully considered the decision before choosing to enter the race.

“This is a big step, and honestly, a little nerve-wracking—but I’m excited to announce that I’m running for Judge of the Chillicothe Municipal Court!” he said.

An attorney by trade, Feeney emphasized that his legal background, combined with his years of working with and listening to the community, has prepared him for the role.

“I’m ready to bring fairness, problem-solving, and a deep commitment to serving our community to the bench,” he added.

If elected, Feeney confirmed that he would step down as mayor to assume the judgeship.

“This may be a new chapter, but my passion for supporting our community remains just as strong,” he said, encouraging residents to stay tuned for campaign updates.
