Chillicothe Design Review Board Needs an Additional Member

Chillicothe — The city hired a new Chief Building Official a few months ago, and now is close to posting for a Code Enforcement officer to work for him.

City of Chillicothe Safety Service Director Jeff Carman mentioned that in Thursday’s Design Review Board, and I asked him to clarify the situation.

Carman said, over the last few months, the city has been working with civil service and the city employee’s union to create the job. He says they are close to finalizing the position, and hope to hire in next few months.

While the Chief Building Official is an existing position that needed filling, the Code Enforcement officer is a new one that is being created.

Code Enforcement will look at buildings for code violations: broken windows, failing paint, sagging roofs, and so forth – to maintain safety and improve the look of the city.

Carman said to look for a posting on the city’s website soon, if you’re interested.

The Chillicothe Design Review Board meets on December 21st, 2023.

The Design Review Board is also in need of an additional member, who will be appointed by the mayor. Applicants must be a resident of the city, and should have some understanding of historic architecture, cultural geography, and/or historic preservation.
