Chillicothe Police Department Daily Media Report – October 28, 2024

Chillicothe, OH – The Chillicothe Police Department responded to a range of incidents throughout the day on October 28, 2024, including several arrests, ongoing investigations, and welfare checks.

Early in the morning, officers were dispatched to 232 E 8th St at 1:48 AM regarding a complaint related to physical control of a vehicle while under the influence. The investigation is ongoing.

At 8:39 AM, Officer Daubenmire initiated an investigation into a case of extortion and aggravated menacing following a complaint from Heather Rupert. This case is also under active investigation.

A call about an unruly child at 204 Lincoln Park was reported at 9:30 AM, with further investigation pending. Shortly thereafter, a warrant was served at 9:38 AM to Nicholas Crane for failure to appear on an OVI charge, and he was transported to the Ross County Jail.

By late morning, officers discovered drug paraphernalia and a suspect with active warrants on Maple Ave. A runaway juvenile was also reported from N Sugar St around 10:52 AM.

In response to a welfare check at 761 E Main St, officers confirmed there was no immediate danger, despite reports of a female screaming. Other incidents included a telecommunications harassment complaint filed at the Law Enforcement Complex and a domestic dispute in Sherman Park.

A significant incident occurred at Menard’s on N Bridge St around 3:25 PM, where officers apprehended Danny Darling Jr., who had an outstanding warrant for drug paraphernalia. He was barred from the premises but not charged with theft.

Later in the day, at 5:25 PM, a citation was issued for a right-of-way violation to Richard Smith after he nearly caused an accident while turning left onto E Main St.

Police made several more arrests related to outstanding warrants throughout the day, including Tommy Cantrell for theft and Elizabeth Calton for driving under suspension. Both individuals were transported to the Ross County Jail and are being held pending court appearances.

The day concluded with reports of a stolen vehicle at 171 Old Canal Rd and a domestic dispute at 465 Willow Ln, which are both under investigation.

In total, the Chillicothe Police Department recorded 21 incidents on October 28, highlighting ongoing community engagement and response to various law enforcement challenges.
