Chillicothe Police Department Reports August 31 Incident Surge

CHILLICOTHE, OH (September 2, 2024) — The Chillicothe Police Department responded to a series of incidents throughout the city on September 1, 2024, spanning traffic violations, thefts, and various criminal activities. The detailed daily media report highlights 21 cases managed by officers throughout the day.

At approximately 12:26 AM, officers investigated a report of a reckless driver at Harbor Freight Tools on North Bridge Street. The investigation is ongoing. Just minutes later, a traffic stop on Sycamore Street resulted in a citation for improper turn signals and a child restraint violation.

In the early hours of the morning, officers addressed multiple issues, including disorderly conduct at 429 E. Second Street and a small engine motorcycle observed on a floodwall at 701 Hardin Drive. By 7:58 AM, a report of criminal mischief on Washington Avenue was filed, followed by a theft report at 964 Akron Street later in the day.

The afternoon saw further incidents, including an assault reported at Hobby Lobby and a burglary at 533 E. Second Street. Traffic enforcement also continued with a citation issued on Pawnee Road for a speed violation.

Later, the department responded to theft complaints from vehicles at 40 N. Plaza Drive and an ongoing theft investigation on McKeller Street. Reports of disorderly conduct on Oak Lane and a domestic disturbance on Washington Avenue were also logged.

As the evening progressed, the police served a warrant at the Ross County Jail and initiated a traffic stop on a gold Honda Civic on East 6th Street, which involved possession of a controlled substance.
