CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — On August 26, 2024, a search warrant was executed at 9 Pam Lane as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation, with assistance from the Ross County Sheriff’s Office and their Emergency Response Team (ERT).

Detective Adam Steele, who was monitoring the residence, observed suspicious activity prior to the warrant’s execution. A Ford Explorer arrived, and a white male, later identified as a suspect named Courtney Gray, was seen engaging in what appeared to be a hand-to-hand drug transaction on the front porch before departing in the vehicle.

As the ERT Team arrived shortly thereafter, they attempted to establish perimeter security. Upon announcing their presence and identifying themselves, Gray fled into the trailer. The ERT Team was able to force entry and apprehend him as he emerged from the bathroom of a bedroom. Brandy Baker was also detained inside the trailer.

A search of Gray revealed a wallet containing $700 in cash, including $100 in controlled buy money used during the investigation. Further investigation of the residence uncovered various items, including:

  • A Glock 21 .45 caliber handgun
  • Multiple digital scales
  • A black Apple iPhone
  • A clear bag with a white powdery substance
  • Seven white pills marked “512”
  • A .380 magazine with rounds

Gray has a prior conviction for trafficking in drugs, which prohibits him from owning or possessing firearms. He was arrested for having weapons while under disability and was also held on a parole violation from the Ohio Adult Parole Authority.

The suspected narcotics will be sent to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) for analysis, and Gray’s prescription history will be reviewed through the Ohio Automated Rx Reports (OARRS).

The investigation is ongoing, with further developments anticipated.
