Chillicothe Police Report: Assaults and Traffic Incidents on October 18, 2024

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – The Chillicothe Police Department responded to a series of incidents on October 18, 2024, including multiple assaults and traffic violations.

At approximately 1:42 a.m., officers were dispatched to an apartment on Columbus Street regarding an assault. Further details about the incident were not immediately available.

A traffic stop was conducted at 2:03 a.m. on Western Avenue for a vehicle with multiple suspension issues. The investigation is ongoing.

Later that morning, at 5:14 a.m., officers responded to a report of a missing person at a location on East Main Street. A report was taken, and further investigation followed.

As the day progressed, several traffic stops were made for offenses including expired plates, failure to yield at stop signs, and driving while texting. Notably, an officer issued a citation at 9:02 a.m. for a driver texting while operating a vehicle on East 7th Street.

At 12:55 p.m., police responded to Gabes on North Bridge Street regarding a domestic dispute that led to another assault report, which is still under investigation.

The most serious incident of the day occurred around 8:07 p.m. in the Walmart parking lot at 85 River Trace Lane. Officers arrived to find a male victim who had been stabbed multiple times and had a fish hook embedded in his neck. He was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center for treatment. A suspect was identified and taken into custody. The assault reportedly occurred under the North Bridge Street bridge, and the investigation was transferred to the Ross County Sheriff’s Office.

In addition to these incidents, officers handled various complaints, including theft reports at locations along River Trace Lane, as well as additional traffic violations throughout the day.
