Chillicothe, OH – On August 30, 2024, Chillicothe police responded to a violent robbery and assault incident involving two suspects. The altercation took place in the alley between Madison and Jefferson Avenue.

According to the initial report, officers were dispatched after receiving a call about a robbery and assault involving two black males. One suspect was described as wearing a black shirt and the other as wearing gray shorts with no shirt. The suspects had allegedly threatened the victims with a firearm.

Upon arriving at the scene, Officer spotted a man matching the description on Madison Avenue. The suspect, later identified as Nycholas Hutchinson, fled when he saw the officer. Campbell, armed and cautious, instructed Hutchinson to stop, but Hutchinson initially resisted. After a brief struggle, during which Campbell was struck and sustained a minor injury, Hutchinson was subdued and placed in handcuffs.

Hutchinson, who was found kicking the windows of the patrol car, was subsequently shackled and transported to the Ross County Jail. He faces charges including assault on a peace officer and additional charges related to the robbery incident.

In a separate but related investigation, Officer Jonathan Davis responded to the same alley where he encountered Craig Kinney-Thompson, another individual flagged by witnesses as a suspect. Kinney-Thompson initially claimed he was in the area to meet someone and was not involved in the robbery.

Witnesses later identified Kinney-Thompson as an accomplice who had acted as a lookout while Hutchinson stole marijuana plants from the victiums property. Surveillance footage later confirmed Kinney-Thompson’s involvement in aiding Hutchinson. Consequently, Kinney-Thompson was arrested for complicity to robbery and booked at the Ross County Jail.

Both suspects are expected to appear in Chillicothe Municipal Court for their charges. The investigation continues as authorities review video evidence provided by the victims.
