Chillicothe, OH – Officers from the Chillicothe Police Department swiftly responded to a reported incident involving counterfeit currency at a local establishment. Upon arrival at the scene, officers engaged with employees who detailed the circumstances surrounding the fraudulent transaction.
According to the employees, a customer had entered the premises with the intention of loading money onto a prepaid card. The customer presented four $50 bills for the transaction. However, suspicion arose when the bills were examined using a currency marker, revealing them to be counterfeit. All four bills bore the same serial number, identified as “PG11642988A”.
The individual identified as Jamie Ford, allegedly involved in the transaction, informed officers that he had received the bills from an individual named “Logan”, who had visited his residence a few days prior to make a down payment on a vehicle sale. Subsequently, officers seized all four counterfeit bills, noting slight discrepancies such as being off-center, and secured them as evidence for further investigation.
In the course of the interaction, it was discovered that Jamie Ford had an outstanding warrant for Failure to Appear (TRD2400768) with a charge of Driving Under Suspension (DUS). Consequently, Ford was placed under arrest, transported to the local jail, and served with the warrant. He is currently being held in custody pending a bond hearing and is scheduled to appear in court on April 25, 2024, at 9:00 a.m.
The Chillicothe Police Department continues to urge the public to remain vigilant against counterfeit currency scams and to report any suspicious activity promptly.
