
CHILLICOTHE, OH — Chillicothe Police were kept busy Tuesday, April 8, responding to a wide range of calls throughout the city — from domestic disputes and thefts to drug-related arrests and traffic violations.
Morning Traffic Stops and Investigations
The day began around 7:30 a.m. with a traffic stop on West Water Street, where a driver was found to be operating a vehicle while under suspension due to unpaid child support and fines. Minutes later, officers responded to the Cozy Corner Diner on East 7th Street for a criminal trespass complaint involving an unpaid bill. That case remains under investigation.
Detectives also opened a telecommunications harassment case on Marietta Road around 9:50 a.m., while another unit was dispatched to Jefferson Avenue shortly before 11 a.m. for a vehicle accident involving a driver failing to control their vehicle.
Juvenile and Property Matters
Later in the morning, a found wallet was reported on East Main Street. Around 1:15 p.m., police were called back to East Main for a case of criminal mischief involving property tampering. Just before 3:15 p.m., detectives received a juvenile referral from Ross County Job and Family Services, which is currently under review.
Afternoon Incidents: Threats, Suspensions, and Thefts
A busy afternoon included a call to Western Avenue for an abandoned vehicle obstructing traffic. The car was towed and cited. Police were also dispatched to the Law Enforcement Complex regarding a menacing complaint that is still being investigated.
A driver on South Walnut Street was stopped just after 5 p.m. for operating a vehicle under an OVI suspension. That case remains open. Meanwhile, theft reports came in from River Trace Lane and Marietta Road, including an alleged misuse of a credit card.
Evening Escalates with Violence, Warrants, and Arrests
By nightfall, officers were called to Clay Street for a domestic violence incident. Both parties involved were arrested. Another domestic dispute occurred on South Douglas Avenue later that evening, where a warrant investigation is ongoing.
A second theft was reported on River Trace Lane at 10:30 p.m., followed by a criminal trespass call on North Bridge Street. Police concluded the night with an arrest at the Pilot gas station on East Main Street, where a suspect was found trespassing and in possession of drugs and paraphernalia. The individual also had an active warrant.
In total, Chillicothe Police logged 21 incident reports on April 8, covering everything from minor traffic issues to more serious criminal offenses. Several investigations remain active.
