Chillicothe Police Respond to Various Incidents on November 14, 2024

Chillicothe police handled a range of incidents throughout the day on November 14, 2024, including traffic accidents, criminal investigations, and welfare checks.

The day began with a report of an assault at 8:32 a.m. on Yoctangee Parkway involving a juvenile. Details of the assault are under investigation.

At 9:18 a.m., officers responded to a possible death investigation on Loganview Drive. No further details were available as the investigation is ongoing.

Later in the morning, at 11:32 a.m., police were called to Menard’s on North Bridge Street for a shoplifting report. The investigation into the theft is still active.

A warrant report was filed at 1:46 p.m. on North Paint Street, followed by a traffic-related investigation at 3:38 p.m. on South Paint Street. Police responded to an accident at the intersection of East 4th Street and South Paint Street, where a cream-colored Kia Sorento collided with a white GMC Sierra. The driver of the Kia, identified as William Umphries Jr., claimed the other vehicle ran a red light, causing the crash. A routine check revealed that Umphries was driving with a suspended license.

At 4:52 p.m., police were called to Sherman Park, where a child was reported to be alone in a dumpster for an extended period of time. Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

In the late afternoon, at 5:40 p.m., a warrant was served on North Paint Street, and at 6:32 p.m., a detective opened an investigation into drug trafficking in the city. The investigation is ongoing.

At 7:00 p.m., officers responded to a disorderly conduct report at 881 North Bridge Street. No further details were provided, and the investigation continues. Shortly after, at 7:24 p.m., police investigated a crash on North Bridge Street after a report of a vehicle failing to stay in marked lanes.

Throughout the day, officers also handled several routine calls, including traffic stops and other reports. As of the evening, investigations are still ongoing into several of the reported incidents, including the assault, theft, child endangerment, and drug trafficking cases.
